Director of Engineering

Stewart & Stevenson Canada Inc. was incorporated in Houston, Texas in 1902. Our diversified product offerings include equipment for well stimulation, well work over and service, drilling, coiled tubing, cementing, nitrogen pumping, power generation and electrical systems, as well as engines, transmissions and materials handling equipment.

We are a leading aftermarket parts and service provider to all of the industries for which we provide products, and we provide rental equipment to a broad range of customers. Today we have 53 offices and facilities in the United States, Canada, and abroad.

 

Nature and Scope:   

Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Engineering is responsible for ensuring effective and efficient engineering services are in place to satisfy the requirements of both internal and external customers. This position has the following direct reports rig engineering, stimulation engineering.

 

Specific Accountabilities include but are not limited to:  

  • Responsible and accountable for the overall management of the Engineering Departments throughout Stewart & Stevenson, including coordination of staff, workload balancing, setting timelines, goals and budgets.
  • Ensuring design meets customer specifications are designed to appropriate standards and ensuring appropriate Code of Ethics are practiced.
  • Meet with customers as required.
  • Setting, implementing and maintaining standards for the Engineering Departments.
  • Evaluates employees.  Makes recommendations to hire, promote, or terminate employees and recommends salary changes.
  • Assisting sales and quotations to ensure costing, scope of work and timelines meet customer requirements.
  • Acts as liaison between production, engineering and sales personnel as required.
  • Mentors less experienced personnel.
  • Assists subordinates in day-to-day problems.
  • Being familiar with and practicing company policies and procedures. 

 

Qualifications: 

Education & Training

  • Post Secondary Degree, preferably engineering or a Technical Diploma along with related management experience.
  • Excellent computer skills, in particular;
  • AutoCAD
  • MS Office
  • Manufacturing Systems (M2M preferred) 

Experience

  • 15+ years experience in an engineering and manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards such as API, ASME, CWB, OH&S, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of Oilfield Drilling and Well Servicing Equipment.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
