MASTER SCHEDULER

 

Nature & Scope

 

Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain Management, the incumbent is responsible for converting demand (forecasts, customer orders, customer schedules, etc) into schedules to assure that matched sets of materials and capacities are available to meet the needs of customers in a cost-effective fashion within the volumes as specified by the Executive Sales and Operations Plan. This position is responsible for the collation and analysis of Sales, Operations and throughput data along with material requirements to produce a plan that maximizes the resources of the Calgary Stewart and Stevenson Manufacturing location. This position is required to liaise with Sales, Production and Engineering staff in the collection of required data and requires a sound knowledge and background in ERP / MRP and Project Management. This position will supervise planning staff for the 3 main production modes as well as work closely with Sales and Service, Estimating / Quotation and the Materials Team to provide optimum ROI to both S&S and its varied customers and clients.


SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Develop improved scheduling model including end to end milestones for project success (Customer quotations/approvals, Engineering deadlines,, materials lead times, production, testing, and shipping).
  • Scope of production activities includes three distinct production modes; Rig, DrawWorks and Stimulation equipment.Calculate full maintenance pricing for sales staff, including labor rates and preventative price quotes.
  • Utilize schedule to recommend capacity expectations, personnel increases / decreases, productivity improvements and storage / logistics concerns.
  • Work with Project Managers to develop clear expectations for on-time delivery including monitoring milestones, expediting and rescheduling as needed.
  • Drive on-time delivery by identifying root causes of scheduling issues that are resulting in late shipments.
  • Provide feedback to estimation team on accuracy of labour and materials estimates in quotations for better margin predictability.
  • Identifying opportunities for productivity improvements by decreasing variability in task times and decrease non-value added activities (Lean Manufacturing).
  • Work closely with the Procurement Team to identify commodity spikes and global shortages of materials to avert negative impact on production delivery schedules.

 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • Minimum 5 years experience in scheduling / planning in a fast paced technical or project based environment.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Post secondary education in Project Management and/or Supply Chain Logistics Management.
  • Demonstrated success in ERP / MRP applications.
  • Completed or working towards a professional certification in CPIM, PMP, CPP or P.Log.
  • Demonstrated drive in continuing education related to Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering or Logistics.
