Project Engineer

Stewart & Stevenson Canada Inc. was incorporated in Houston, Texas in 1902. Our diversified product offerings include equipment for well stimulation, well work over and service, drilling, coiled tubing, cementing, nitrogen pumping, power generation and electrical systems, as well as engines, transmissions and materials handling equipment.

NATURE AND SCOPE:         

 

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for managing large or multiple projects/tasks of an engineering nature. There are no direct reports to this position.

 

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 

  • Direct, coordinate and exercise functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration and completion of engineering projects.
  • Coordination with drafting and design engineers to prepare drawing packages.
  • Participate in design activities; provide technical guidance and support to resolve overall design project issues.
  • Interact with purchasing for timely sourcing of materials/parts.
  • Ensure project documentation is complete, including all design packages, as built requirements and return data information.
  • Review and approve all design and vendor drawings to ensure conformity with project specifications, company guidelines, and engineering practices.
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
  • Assist production personnel in interpreting drawings and solve manufacturing problems. Revise drawings based on input from production.
  • Monitor staff performance and quality of work, and provide coaching, mentoring and training to project team members.
  • Participate in proposal development as required.
  • May conduct research and recommend purchasing of new equipment and systems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education & Training 

  • Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional designation is a must. 

Experience 

  • Hands-on experience with one of the design suites e.g. Pro-E, AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Catia is a requirement.
  • Minimum five years experience as a Mechanical Engineer. Experience with heavy industrial equipment is required.
  • Knowledge of oilfield drilling and well service equipment is an asset.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as API, ASME, CSA and CWB.

  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills as well as the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (both written & oral).
  • Must be results-orientated
